The 3 R's, Read, Research, and Read some more!

Being a stay-at-home and living on a limited income can be discouraging at times. The whole purpose in turning what was once a hobby into a business can be overwhelming. It was a great choice to choose Etsy as a host for my web store but, even a Free web store can cost money. I would like to think of myself as money savvy but, the reality is the cost of promoting a business can quickly add up. Every dime that I have made thus far has been poured back into the business in way of supplies and promos. Realizing this a bit late forced me to seek FREE sources of promotion.

The best way to find out about Free ways to promote your Etsy Shop or any other web store is to ask around. I have been pleasantly surprised at the willingness of other Etsy shop owners to offer help in seeking opportunities for cost effective promos. Numerous threads listed in the Etsy Forums have given various ideas and techniques for anyone from "Newbie" to the self proclaimed " Veteran" to learn from. If you take the time out and search, there is a wealth of information readily available to you. I recently hit the 3 month mark of running an Etsy shop and I feel that I am finally getting the hang of things. I would offer this advice to anyone considering opening there own shop, read, research and read some more. Then when you think that your are done read, research and read some more. I am sure that you will learn something new every time. I know I did!

I now have a " Etsy Ads" list on my blog. Please contact me if you would like information about placing an " Thumbnail Ad" to this blog.

Great article. It is so true that you have to search around for the free promotions and the threads have been wonderful. Just like you I am hitting the 3 month mark as well and am getting the hang of thins too. There are some may wonderful ways to promote for free and I am trying to find all of them. I wish I could stay at home, but I had to go for a job in addition to etsy. But I know in the end it will all work out!
